David Sanders is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. He was born in Pine Ridge, SD and grew up in the small community of Oglala. He attended the University of Colorado earning a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, a secondary mathematics teacher’s certificate, a master’s and a Ph.D., both in Curriculum and Instruction in Mathematics Education. He taught secondary mathematics at Chinle High School in Chinle, AZ on the Navajo Nation and worked as the Director of the University of Colorado Upward Bound Program prior to accepting his current position, the Research Director/Co-Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs for the American Indian College Fund.
