American Indian Government Employees and Indigenous Data Sovereignty

On June 7, 2017, NNI Associate Director Stephanie Carroll Rainie and Research Specialist Andrew Martinez presented “Indigenous Data Sovereignty: Opportunities for Tribal/Federal Collaboration” at the Society of American Indian Government Employees "Standing Together" conference held at the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation’s We Ko Pa Resort and Conference Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. Session attendees included a mix of federal and tribal government employees. Rainie’s and Martinez’s interactive presentation featured discussions about Indigenous data sovereignty in action today, the importance of tribal data development and management, and prospects for establishing partnerships with non-tribal entities.
